What This Service Actually Involves
Furnaces rarely die without warning — they leave clues all season: a flame sensor getting lazy, a blower motor running hot, a heat exchanger that deserves a close look. An annual cleaning and maintenance visit catches those clues while they're cheap, and it keeps the system running at the efficiency you paid for.
Our maintenance visit is a real inspection, not a filter swap with a sticker. We clean the burners, test the safety controls, check the heat exchanger, measure draft and combustion, and leave you a plain-language report: what's healthy, what's wearing, and what can safely wait. Book it in fall before the calendar fills — or better, in the quiet season when you get first pick of dates.
- Burner, blower, and flame-sensor cleaning — ignition tested, moving parts lubricated
- Heat exchanger inspection — the safety-critical check
- Combustion and carbon monoxide measurements
- A plain-language condition report: healthy, wearing, or watch it

Seventy-seven Google reviews and a 4.7-star average — earned one callback, one clean install, one honest invoice at a time. Some of these families have trusted the shop for fifty years.
“My furnace went out and I called them at 8pm. The service tech (Tyler) came out to try and get it up and running again… He ran me through my options for my almost 30 year old furnace and was straight forward and honest with me… Both Mitch and Tyler offered to loan me space heaters to keep my family warm… They’re honest, straight forward, and very professional. I WILL be recommending them every chance I get!”
“My wife and I are so very happy with Merrill Sheet Metal Works!! On time to the minute, absolutely wonderful Bryant Furnace Installation work. It felt like my family was installing my furnace. Total Care! Our home is Safe and Warm!”
“We called to get an estimate on getting a whole home humidifier install and they were able to have someone come out the next day… Installation went great and the guys let us know what they were doing the whole time and cleaned up after themselves. They went above and beyond and provided great customer service from our first phone call, through the process, and a follow up phone call after the work was complete.”
“Outstanding service, 3 person crew was professional and polite. Crew was thorough and not afraid to answer any questions. Once our central air conditioner was installed and operational they were great with explaining our new thermostat and functions of it and the unit.”

Straight Answers
Questions We Hear About Furnace Cleaning & Maintenance
How often should a furnace be serviced?
Once a year, ideally before heating season. It keeps efficiency where it should be, catches wear before it becomes failure, and documents the maintenance most manufacturer warranties expect.
Is a furnace tune-up really worth it?
A tune-up costs a fraction of an emergency no-heat call — and a fraction of the fuel an inefficient furnace quietly wastes all winter. On a system you want to last fifteen years, it's the cheapest insurance there is.
What about my filter?
Check it monthly in heavy season, change it when it looks gray. A clogged filter is the number one cause of avoidable furnace trouble we see — it starves airflow and overheats the works.
Do you offer maintenance for boilers too?
Yes — boiler service is its own visit with its own checklist. If you run hot water heat, see our boiler service page or just tell us what you've got when you schedule.
