Grandfather's Rules
A Hundred Years of How to Treat People
In 1913 this company started working sheet metal in Merrill — the trade the name still carries — and started keeping a set of traditions that had nothing to do with metal: how to treat people, how to conduct business, how to earn the next fifty years of a customer's trust. Those rules passed from our grandfather down through the shop like tools worth keeping.
Kurt grew up in it, working here through high school. He left to study to become a teacher — then realized the family trade was the actual calling, came home, and resumed working alongside his dad, Mike. He earned his EPA and HVAC certifications, and that spirit of ongoing training runs through every technician on the crew today: NATE certified, EPA certified, Lead and Asbestos certified, factory-trained on the Bryant equipment we install.
Today Kurt and Lori run the shop the way it's always run — and Bill Schug, who you'll likely meet first, handles the front of house for both family companies. Some families in our service files have been customers for more than fifty years, through furnaces, boilers, remodels, and the occasional midnight no-heat call. That's not luck. That's the rules, kept.

Three Generations at One Address
1204 N Center Ave in Merrill — the office, the crews, and our heating and cooling equipment, all under one roof. Weekdays 8:30–5, Saturdays 9–2. Come talk through a project, or just put a face to the phone number.
The Family's Other Company
Fireplaces, stoves, inserts, and chimney care live with Firefly Lodge — opened in 2013, a hundred years after this shop, by the same family in the same building. If your project is hearth-shaped, that's the door to knock on.
