As the president of a third-generation family-owned business, Kurt takes things personally—he truly cares about his team members and his customers. He started working at the company in high school and understands that having HVAC service and repairs done can be a bit intimidating. This is why he makes sure his customers understand the process so they can make educated decisions. Kurt loves spending time with his family, and doing some hunting and fishing when he can. As the company is always evolving and growing, he also likes learning more about the business and regularly reads publications on indoor air quality, fireplaces, and HVAC. Kurt is a licensed chimney sweep and inspector and often jokes with customers about wearing a top hat while performing the work.
While Mike is now in sales, he started out in installation and repair of heating and cooling systems more than 14 years ago and brings this experience to his current position. He loves to give advice and guidance to customers so they can keep their family and home safe and comfortable. His areas of expertise include:
- Forced Air Comfort System Design
- Hydronic Heating Comfort System Design
- Ductless Cooling and Heating Systems
- Indoor Air Quality Systems
- Gas and Wood Fireplaces
Mike has earned a number of certifications including: North American Technical Excellence (NATE) for Furnace, A/C, and Heat Pump Installation; National Fireplace Institute (NFI) as a Woodburning Specialist, and is a Bryant Indoor Air Specialist. In his free time, Mike enjoys fishing.
Lori has 14 years of office experience with an associate degree in accounting. Since joining Merrill Sheet Metal, she has been instrumental in implementing the new office systems which help the company run more smoothly and easily for customers. She is also a member of the Pine River Volunteer Fire Department (PRVFD) and can be found taking photos around the community.
Matt is a graduate from Northcentral Technical College (NTC) and earned Outstanding Graduate in 2014. Matt has taken the company philosophy to heart and his goal is to treat customers the way he would like to be treated. When not at Merrill Sheet Metal, he likes to spend time with his family, as well as hunt and fish.
Dylan recently joined Merrill Sheet Metal and embraces the company philosophy to take the time to do things right. When not at work, he helps out on the family farm and is a bit of a daredevil as he rides dirt bikes.
Bill previously worked at a local radio station and brings his years of customer service and media experience to Merrill Sheet Metal. He assists in expanding the company brand across social media platforms, on TV and radio and in print. Bill is impressed that Merrill Sheet Metal and its third-generation owners are actively involved in the community and always looking for ways to grow and improve.
In his free time, Bill spends as much time as possible with his family, enjoying his wife and their two young children. He enjoys watching the Packers, playing softball and deer hunting in the fall.
Samantha is the first person customers see when they walk into our Firefly Lodge. She manages company scheduling and oversees customer service—it’s her number one priority with every project. In Samantha’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and playing cribbage.
Tom Hughes is new to Merrill Sheet Metal Works. He has 14 years of experience in the hearth industry, and believes that hard work and honesty are values to live by. From installation to service and sales, Tom has done it all with an excellent understanding of how to find the right product for every home. He is National Fireplace Institute (NFI) certified as both a Gas and Pellet Specialist, and creates project designs on the computer to aid in construction and visualization for a perfect installation. In his free time, Tom enjoys swimming, camping, or attending baseball games with his family. He stays active by playing volleyball, coaching baseball, and participating in local fundraisers and builder associations.
